Aly Saab

Aly Saab (b. 1990) is a Beirut-based photographer, his interest in photography started at the age of 15, after partially losing his eyesight. Photography became the medium he used to share his vision of the world around him.

In 2015, Aly moved to Glasgow where he studied fine art photography at the Glasgow School of Art. Throughout that time, he produced a series of works varying between portraits and nude imagery. After finishing his master’s degree, Saab’s photography gradually transitioned into fashion, which he soon built a career off.

He arrived in Beirut in 2017 with an appetite to create. Shortly after, he met Melanie Dagher, the Creative Director of A Magazine and L’Officiel Levant (at the time), and began to produce work for both magazines.

Aly’s work stood out by balancing the technicalities of fine art theory and incorporating the liveliness of fashion. A liveliness that soon enough turned into a more regimented approach through reoccurring subjects in his work, such as flowers.

It is not a coincidence that flowers are Aly’s favorite subject to document and work with, as it holds a deeper sentiment below the surface.
