awk.word was born in 2018 and has since been disrupting the comedy scene by raising sociological awareness, pushing the limits of censorship, and fostering change through comedy.
The awk.word team hosts daily live stand-up comedy events in Lebanon and around the world and produces online video content to over 400,000 followers and subscribers. As managers and agents, the awk.word team represents most of their comedians professionally. We offer a platform that promotes and empowers freedom of speech and puts forward values such as feminism, transparency of information, and human rights. Through awk.word, comedians of various identities benefit from a comprehensive infrastructure to launch and grow a sustainable career and the means to do what they love.
awk.word is the first underground stand-up comedy platform in Lebanon.
Following its consistent success in Lebanon since 2018, awk.word embarked on an international expansion in 2022.
awk.word and Mise en Abyme joined forces and collaborated on their very first European tour with comedienne Shaden el fakih Starting in Paris and continuing throughout Europe.
We have since produced and organised 6 successful international tours.
